I got questions, you got answers

Hi Gang,

I've been on such an amazing quest for more of God and the filling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit in me, and as I have walked this road, I've seen things and experienced things that have made me go, "huh?". These are questions I have or have had, or others have shared with me... Before you answer them here on the blog, please pray to have fresh eyes and direct insight from the Holy Spirit.

Also, confirm Scripturally your answers where possible. Meaning, back your points with the Word of God--list the verses. And as you write if you have experiential stories and evidence, please share them too.

1) What is "holy laughter"?

2) What is "slain in the Spirit"?

3) What is "drunk in the Spirit"?

4)People claim to see angels, not with specific messages, just see them. What do you think of this?

5a) People claim to have visited heaven, what do you think of this?
5b) Do you want to visit heaven too?

6) Have you seen or experienced a creative miracle?
Please share:

7) Have you ever heard the audible voice of God?
Please share:

8) Are you open and willing to have your beliefs changed or adjusted?
Why/Why not?

9) Why do some people claim to have/see gold dust?

10) Are there things that occured in the NT that do not occur today and why/why not?

11) What gifts or "experiences" do you wish you had?

12) what gifts or "experiences have you had?

13) What gifts or "experiences do you not believe are of God?

14) What gifts or "experiences" do you accept and still make you feel alittle uncomfortable with?

I hope this "homework" will open up a great chain of discussion and personal probing and personal discovery... Now, if you would like extra credit:

Go back over every question you answered and write in support/defense of the opposite of what you believe, where appropriate, again supporting first through the Word of God and then by experiences...it can get real fun inside your heart and mind to do this....

God bless each of you!

God so rocks!

I'm currently reading, When the Spirit Comes With Power, by John White. He addresses many of these questions I posted. I'll do a write-up later.

1) What is "holy laughter"?

supposedly the joy of the Lord and uncontrollable laughter. I saw this at a conference and people looked like they were drunk or high.

2) What is "slain in the Spirit"?

supposedly when the Holy Spirit comes upon you so strong, you can't help but fall backwards.. kinda like the soldiers in the Garden when they were coming to arrest Jesus.

3) What is "drunk in the Spirit"?

When you act weird and drunk... but drunk in the Spirit supposedly makes it okay because God causes it. Although, I'm not sure why God would want to do that. I have never seen anyone drunk in the spirit be of any benefit to others. They are not able to comfort, praise God, or anything. They act like drunken fools.

4)People claim to see angels, not with specific messages, just see them. What do you think of this?

I believe it can happen, although never to me.

5a) People claim to have visited heaven, what do you think of this?

I don't think they actually got to heaven but they were about to enter heaven??!

5b) Do you want to visit heaven too?

heck, YES

6) Have you seen or experienced a creative miracle?
Please share:
no, not really.

7) Have you ever heard the audible voice of God?
Please share: No, i wish i could.

8) Are you open and willing to have your beliefs changed or adjusted?
Why/Why not? YES YES YES. I would love to have something, someone radically change the way I believe for the better... like more faith in God, a more Godly perspective, a new sense of purpose.

9) Why do some people claim to have/see gold dust? don't know.. never heard of that.

10) Are there things that occured in the NT that do not occur today and why/why not?

I never seen anyone drop dead after lying about offering or taking communion w/o unpure heart.

11) What gifts or "experiences" do you wish you had?

healing, prophesy, knowledge

12) what gifts or "experiences have you had?
hospitality - although I am not able to exercise my gifts due to circumstances.

13) What gifts or "experiences do you not believe are of God?

I kinda question the slain in the spirit, drunk in spirit kinda of thing. Went to a conference and I didn't see it to be glorifying God but actually a turn off to many people. I also saw people faking the slain in the spirit deal.

14) What gifts or "experiences" do you accept and still make you feel alittle uncomfortable with? hmm those I just mentioned above...
