Instead of writing out my thoughts, I want to use scriptures as the point and basis of this blog….so pull out your Bible as you follow along with each point/sub point. Let God’s Word speak to you…..
Crucifixion
The Physical Aspect
Death by crucifixion is horrid…at the time, and even perhaps today this was seen as the most painful and harsh way to die. The process took a long time and very agonizing….You may want to do your own research on what happens to the body and how it sends signals of pain and suffering to the brain….In short this is what happens:
Dislocation of Joints – Shoulder sockets and strain on arms and upper body
Dehydration
Lactic Acid and Electrolytes imbalance progressively worsens
Labored Breathing
Rib distention
Push up to inhale (Push/pull against spikes in feet and wrists)
Suffocation

The way Christ died was horrific. Why did it have to be that way? I think the best answer I heard goes back to the topic of "Is Sin Secondary?"
The first lie (at least the first one Adam and Eve bought) was, in essence, that God wanted "keep them down" or "in the dark" so He could lord Himself over them. "God doesn't want you to eat the fruit because He knows that if you do, you will know what He knows . . ."
By dying naked, on a cross, God was providing a picture that would forever be stained on history showing exactly the opposite. No one looking at the cross could buy the lie that God wanted to lord anything over us. He humbled himself to our level, and then humbled himself more by letting us treat him with extreme disrespect.
Christ death, and the shedding of His blood, did pay the price for our sin and pave the way for us to spend eternal life in Heaven. But the way He died showed us His true character. God is Love.
